「旅の途中～旅とは道を探すこと」

　これまで沢山の旅をしてきた。 バレエダンサーとして日本で活動したのち、本質を求めてヨーロッパへ飛んだ。日本でのキャリアは全て捨ててスーツケース１つ、かばん１つ、その日の宿も国も決まらない旅の中で、必死に仕事を探す旅をしていた。

　長く日本で踊ってきたダンサーが突然海外に、飛び出し、何の当てもなく体当たりで職を探す。この道には前例がなく、周りからは「不可能」と言われ続けていたが、奇跡的に契約を掴むことが出来た。 ロシアの国立劇場からの契約。 信じられないような大逆転が起きた。

　ただ、バレエの本場は厳しかった。極寒のシベリア。何もかもこれまでとは違うプロフェッショナルな世界。違う世界で受け入れられるには、まず、こちらが受け入れなければならない。 言葉を理解し、文化を理解し、踊りを磨いて役を獲得する。そこに道はあったが、その道はとても険しいものだった。 しかし、険しい道でも一生懸命に進んでいると助けてくれる人達が現れる。まるで吹雪く山道を一歩一歩んでいる時に、暖かい山小屋に招き入れてもらい、食事を振舞ってもらったが如く、人の優しさは心に沁みた。

　世界は混沌としている。疫病や争い、災害。 悲しみや憎しみが暗闇をもたらす。 しかし、人の心は本来、恒星の様に、自ら光を放っていて、人々の光が集れば暗闇の中を明るく照らすことが出来ると思っている。そして芸術にはそれを可能にする力がある。 国境も時空も何もかも超えて人々が心を震わせ幸せな気持ちになれる。現在、過去、未来、何の縛りもない。

　日本でもロシアでもバレエはとても愛されており、私は両国で踊るバレエダンサーとしてそこに光の橋をかけたい。 沢山の方に感謝を込めて、またその「ありがとう」の気持ちを繋げていくという願いを込めて 「スパシーバ・プロジェクト」を立ち上げた。 素晴らしいアーティストの来日やオンラインでのレッスンなど、様々な質の高い交流が続いている。

　ここに道はないが怖くはない。 これまで受け取ってきた優しさや経験があるので、それらを用いて道を作れば前に進んでいける。 振り返った時に、その道がきっと旅になっている。

　この先どんな旅を見ることになるのだろう。 笑顔で旅の歩みを噛み締めることが出来る、その時を楽しみに。

The Journey Is About Exploring The Path  
I have embarked on many journeys. After pursuing a career as a ballet dancer in Japan, I flew to Europe in search of its true essence. Leaving behind my entire career in Japan with just a suitcase and a bag.  Without knowing where I was going to stay for the night or which country I was headed to, I desperately looked for jobs. A dancer with no overseas career suddenly leaped into the unknown, seeking employment without any connections was unprecedented and I was told it was impossible… but a miracle happened. Out of nowhere, I was able to land a contract with a national theater in Russia.   Still, thriving in the homeland of ballet was not easy. The extreme cold of Siberia and the level of expected professionalism were nothing I had seen before. To be accepted, one must accept first. Understanding the language, and culture, excelling in dancing skills, and earning a role. Surely there was a path, but it was a very challenging one.

But even on such a challenging path, when you earnestly move forward, people come to help. It was just like being invited into a warm mountain hut and treated to a meal in the middle of a snowstorm-covered mountain path—people’s kindness touched my heart deeply.   The world is chaotic—plagues, conflicts, disasters. Sadness and hatred bring darkness, yet I believe that the human spirit, inherently like a star, radiates light. And when people’s light gathers, it can brightly illuminate the darkness. Art has the power to make that possible. Crossing borders, and transcending time and space, people can resonate with art and experience happiness without any boundaries of the present, past, or future.   Ballet is greatly appreciated both in Japan and Russia and as a ballet dancer who performs in both countries, I want to build a bridge of light between them. With gratitude to many, and with the hope of carrying forward those feelings of ‘thank you,’ I launched the ‘Spasibo Project.’

The project continues to facilitate high-quality exchanges, including the invitations of exceptional artists to Japan and hosting online classes. There is no visible path, but I have no fear. With the kindness and experiences I was gifted in the past, I can create my own path and move forward.   I believe the journey is something we will see, looking back at our path.   What kind of journey lies ahead? I look forward to the day when I can appreciate each step of my journey with a smile on my face.
